SAUK CENTRE PARK BOARD

The Sauk Centre Park Board consist of five members, all whom are residents of the City.  Each member is appointed by the City Council for two year terms.  The current Board members include:  Chairperson Mary Lawinger, Vice Chairperson Mark Rachey and members Dana Boschee, Tony Rowe, and Steve Peterson.  The 2005 Council liaison to the Park Board is Steve Moritz.  Staff Liaison is Butch Wessel and Recording Secretary is Wendy Drobny.  The Park Board meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 5:00 PM in the Sauk Centre Council Chambers.  All interested parties are welcome to attend.

Park Board Powers and Duties:

To recommend policies regarding short and long range planning, acquisition, development and use of park lands, Civic Arena, Sinclair Lewis Campgrounds, trails and other recreational facilities.

Subject to Council approval, to prepare and adopt rules and regulations regarding use of City parks, Civic Arena, Sinclair Lewis Campgrounds, trails and other recreational facilities.

To advise the Council regarding cooperative agreements with other public or private agencies, organizations or individuals.

To make recommendations to the Council concerning the hiring of maintenance supervisors and caretakers for the Park Department, Civic Arena, Sinclair Lewis Campground and other recreational facilities.

To make recommendations or provide direction to City staff regarding administrative activities related to parks, trails, open spaces, Civic Arena, Sinclair Lewis Campground, trails and other recreational facilities.

Park Board Funding

A Park Fund is established into which shall be deposited all park land fees, gifts, bequests, endowments, donations, or grants from persons, corporations or government agencies for park and recreation purposes.  The Board may advise the Council regarding disbursements from the fund.  No disbursement or expenditure from the fund shall be made unless approved by Council.
