SINCLAIR LEWIS PARK Sinclair Lewis Park is a five-acre park, located two blocks from the intersection of State Highway 71 (Main Street) and County Road 17 (Sinclair Lewis Avenue.) The park is bordered on the north by beautiful Sauk Lake. Park amenities include a band shell, gazebo, picnic shelter, food service stand, 84-foot fishing pier, boat landing and docks, restrooms, playground equipment, grills, benches, water fountain and off-street parking. The park includes many mature trees, landscaped area and has an irrigation system in place. A paved parking lot is present on site, with sidewalks throughout the park leading to the adjacent municipal campground. Theparks lies across the street from the Lake Wobegon Trail Head. Sinclair Lewis Park and its facilities are handicap accessible. According to a local community survey, Sinclair Lewis Park is the park most frequently visited park in Sauk Centre, with 75% of the households reporting they utilize the park. The median number of visits was five times per year. Sinclair Lewis Park has been developed and improved through a combination of local and state projects. The City, Department of Natural Resources and Watershed District worked in cooperation to implement a "Restore Minnesota 90 Grant", which included shoreline restoration and the placing of 10,000 plants. Community organizations including the Rotary Club, Woman of Today and All School Reunion membership have donated items including the picnic shelter, playground equipment, concession stand and footbridge found within the park.
